Robert Tolson, '68 - Baseball, Basketball, Football
Robert was a three-sport, eight-time letter winning athlete in baseball, basketball and football. He lead Gar-Field to district championships in each of those sports during his illustrious career. Most notably, Robert was a two-time Player of the Week in 1967, as he quarterbacked the legendary undefeated 10-0 Gar-Field football team to a Monument District Championship. With Robert’s leadership, for the entire season the team amassed 357 points while allowing their opponents a poultry 12 points, all 12 of which weren’t score until the last two games of the season. Following graduation from G-F, Rob attended George Mason University where he played basketball and baseball and was selected as captain of the baseball team as a Sophomore. He attained his degree in Elementary Education in 1972. Rob pursued a financial career as a branch manager and loan officer for Piedmont Federal Savings & Loan from 1970 - 1977 and for the past 42 years as a commercial property and casualty insurance agent for several insurance agencies in Prince William County. He served in many capacities of community leadership, most notably two terms as Chairman of the Board for the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. Rob has three children and three grandchildren and resides in Manassas, VA. |
