Jeff Nixon, '75 - Football, Basketball
Jeff played varsity football and basketball in 1973 - 1975. He recorded 11 interceptions in his junior season and 8 in senior year. He was selected to the first team All-County Football Team and First Team All-County Basketball Team in 1974. He was also selected to the Prince William County All-75th Anniversary Defensive Team by “Inside Nova”. Jeff received a football scholarship from the University of Richmond, where he was a three-time All-America selection (1976-78) and selected to the UR Hall of Fame. The Buffalo Bills selected Jeff in the fourth round of the 1979 NFL Draft, where he played from 1979 to 1984, when a knee injury ended his playing career. Jeff went on to serve as the Youth Employment Director for the City of Buffalo for 15 years and before that was the Youth Bureau Director for Buffalo and Erie County for 12 years. Nixon worked as a sports analyst on WKBW-TV's AM Buffalo for 5 years and was the official blogger for the NFL Alumni Association from 2008-2010. Jeff has been tireless in informing players of their rights with medical benefits, pension, and concussion issues on a blog called NFL RETIRED PLAYERS UNITED. Jeff was also voted the Buffalo Nightlife Magazine R&B guitar player of the year in 2006, 2007 and 2008. |
