Eber Martinez, '07 - Soccer, Football
Eber was a highly decorated varsity soccer player for Gar-Field from 2004 to 2007. During that time, he was twice named All-District, All-Region, All-Met and once All-State. In 2006, Eber was twice recognized as Player of the Year by the Potomac News and the Washington Examiner and earned co-Northwest Region Player of the Year. That same year, he led Gar-Field to the state final. In 2006 and 2007, he was named a Parade All-American as well as a NSCAA All-American. In 2006 he was invited to play on the United States Under-17 Men’s National Team. Eber finished his high school career at Gar-Field with 51 goals and 28 assists. He was also the kicker for the football team for the 2006 and 2007 seasons. Eber went on to play soccer for George Mason University, where they won a CAA Championship in 2008. He was named to the College Soccer News' National Team of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in GMU’s 1-0 victory over Penn in the first round of the NCAA Division I Championship Tournament. Eber currently lives locally with his wife and three children and coaches for the Northern Virginia Soccer Club, the Northern Virginia Majestics, and the Prince William Athletic Center. In November of 2019, Eber was named the head coach of the Gar-Field soccer team. |
