Christian "Chris" Kaila, '70 - Wrestling, Tennis
Chris was a star wrestler and tennis player for Gar-Field from 1967 to 1970. His career wrestling record was 61-2, with three individual district championships, two individual championships at the regional and state levels, and one state runner up. Chris’ leadership was noted by Coach Jack Duncan as a being instrumental to the team’s district, regional, and state titles in 1968. Chris was also the captain of the school’s tennis team, which won district and regional titles in 1969 and 1970. After graduating from Gar-Field, Chris received an appointment to West Point Academy. He won individual titles at both the varsity and the regimental levels. After the Academy, Chris served six years as a Captain in the Army. He now resides in Fredericksburg where he owns a successful real estate/appraisal group and uses his leadership skills to teach and mentor community youth through his local church. |
