Charleata Beale, '91 - Basketball, Volleyball
Charleata was a top Basketball and Volleyball player from 1988 to 1991. She is the leading scorer in Gar-Field history with 1,802 points and was named First team All-Commonwealth District 1988 thru 1991, Commonwealth District Player of the Year 1990 and 1991, First Team All-Northwest Region 1989 thru 1991, First Team All-Area 1988 thru 1991, Player of the Year 1990 and 1991, and First Team Washington Post All-Met 1990 and 1991. Her efforts led the Indians to three consecutive District Championships. Charleata went on to play four years for a top-10 ranked University of Virginia basketball team and was a key player in the Women’s NCAA Final Four Tournament. Charleata has always represented her high school and her community with great integrity and honor as an accomplished student and athlete. Charleata, her husband and three kids live in Charlotte, NC where she coached college basketball for twelve years and currently works for the University of North Carolina - Charlotte. |
