Brian McNichol, '92 - Baseball, Basketball
Brian was an outstanding baseball player during Gar-Field’s two most historic and successful seasons. In 1991 the team finished as state runners up and in 1992 they claimed the school’s only state championship. The team was ranked #12 on the USA Today’s national baseball poll. Brian has the distinction of being the starting pitcher in both of those state championship games. In 1992, his complete game seven strikeout performance led G-F to a 3-2 victory. In his senior year, Brian continued with an 8-2 record and 110 strikeouts in just 64 innings. Brian was also a letterman on the school’s basketball team. After winning a state championship at Gar-Field, Brian received a scholarship to continue his baseball career at James Madison University.
