Bob Greer, Coach - Baseball, Basketball, Football
Bob began his teaching and coaching career at Gar-Field in 1963. Throughout the following three decades, he inspired and greatly supported generations of student-athletes. Coach Greer was first an assistant JV coach to Ralph Barnett in baseball, basketball and football. He played an important role in building the great success of the football program in the 60s and early 70s. As the head JV football coach, Coach Greer had the reputation as an effective instructor and trainer to future varsity players that went on to have great success at the varsity level. His JV football teams had a 50-6-1 record, with at least five district championships and three consecutive undefeated seasons. From 1967-1973, Coach Greer was also the varsity baseball coach. In 1969, his baseball team won the first Monument District Championship in the school’s history. Coach Greer was also known for his unwavering support for G-F athletes. Player needs were never too big or too small for Coach Greer. To this day, Coach Greer is supportive of Gar-Field’s needs. By helping the alumni keep the stadium monument area and the school’s front fresh with well-kept plants and shrubs, he hopes to continue to honor his friend and colleague Ralph Barnett and to make the property one for which the students and staff can be proud. |
