Alan Miller, '75 - Football, Basketball, Track & Field
Alan was a top football, basketball and track and field athlete from 1972 to 1975. Although all three have since been surpassed, at the time of his graduation, Alan’s 1,116 career points made him the most prolific scorer in Gar-Field boys basketball history, and he held the school records in the high jump and the high hurdles. Alan earned 10 varsity letters while twice being named All-District in football and three times being name All-County in basketball. Alan led his teams to multiple district and regional championships. Although his statistics and athletic abilities stand out, Alan is often characterized by his peers and coaches as a consistent, unselfish and giving teammate that raised the level of play in every sport in which he competed. Although Alan’s first love was basketball, he accepted a football scholarship to attend the University of Richmond. Jeff Nixon, a 2016 Hall of Fame inductee and former teammate of Alan’s, still considers him and good friend and a man of great integrity and character. |
